About the Presenter
Dr. Mary Shotwell is the concentration track director for the Health Promotion and Wellness concentration track of the MS in Health Science at Rocky Mountain University.
Mary received her BS in Occupational Therapy from Temple University (Philadelphia, PA); her MS in Health Professions Education from Medical University (Charleston, SC), and her PhD in Adult Education from University of GA (Athens, GA). She earned graduate certificates in gerontology as well as in interdisciplinary qualitative studies from University of Georgia.
Mary has worked in many areas of OT practice including the US Army, mental health (inpatient/day treatment), inpatient acute care and rehabilitation, outpatient neuro and hand therapy, work hardening, school systems, vocational programs for adults with intellectual disabilities, private practice pediatrics, and home health and long-term care.
Mary has worked at three different universities as a faculty member and other roles in leadership. She has served her state and national OT associations as well as serving a professional association related to driver rehabilitation. Mary has served on a state licensing board as well as the Accreditation Council for OT Education. Mary has authored numerous book chapters as well as peer reviewed journal articles. She is currently a faculty member in the PhD in Health Sciences Program.
